The Murals

There were many murals painted for the Exposition. These included series, such as the Transportation cycle of the Industry murals. Others were lunettes, medallions, or independent murals.

Transportation Murals

The Transportation Murals were painted by Carlo Ciampaglia for the Centennial Building. The murals were overpainted in 1942. In 2000, the murals were restored.

Industry Murals

The Industry Murals were painted by Bourdelle. These were located in the Automobile Building (Formerly the "Varied Industries" Building). These included:

  1. Electricity
  2. X-Ray
  3. Builders/Inventors
  4. Photographic Process
  5. Iron Workers
  6. Power Dam
  7. Lens Makers
  8. Miners

These murals were destroyed in the 1942 fire, during which the Automobile Builiding burned down. Six of the eight murals were restored in 2000. The recreations were based on glass plates of the originals from Bourdelle's archives.

Agriculture Murals

  1. Fecundity (Goddess of the Harvest)

  3. Pollination of Nature
  4. Shaft of Wheat with Cycle and Scythe

These murals were conserved in 2000.
